Walking Bear usage
The walking bear may be used in non-athletic, community-building and school spirit contexts on printed and digital products.

The Walking Bear logo (“Walking Bear”) is available for use by most (but not all) campus departments on products, within the following guidelines:
- The Walking Bear must be used in a secondary location away from official departmental branding (“UC Berkeley [department/ program name]”), as it may not be used as part of the official departmental branding, or directly adjacent to, beneath, or above it. Approved use example: official departmental branding can be on the front of the item, and the Walking Bear on back, or vice versa.
- The Walking Bear is allowed for use on products where official departmental branding is used. No off-brand departmental branding can be used with the Walking Bear.
- The logo must be used in its original vector format in the following colors only: athletic or campus blue, athletic of campus gold, bright white, black, or a shade of grey.
- To have the best chance at a first submission product approval for the licensee, please be sure that, aside from the color variations listed above, no alterations are applied, including but not limited to:
- The Walking Bear must always maintain its outline or silhouette, and that cannot be altered or broken.
- The Walking Bear is not layered on top of other art or placed on busy backgrounds or colors that reduce visibility.
- The Walking Bear is used in the approved direction (facing right) and horizontally.
- The Walking Bear is without any patterns, logos, text, or other designs inside it.
- The Walking Bear requires a trademark symbol (TM), in the correct location and scaled along with the logo to maintain its integrity. Licensees have that correct vector art with TM and can easily switch out or provide the correct art.
- The Walking Bear must be used in its entirety; it cannot be partially used or shown on the item. The Walking Bear is not a ‘graphic element’ and cannot be used as such.
- Only the Walking Bear is approved for campus departmental use. The wordmarks Bears, Go Bears, and Go Bears! are not permitted for departmental use
Disclaimer: These are broad stroke guidelines. All art for product use will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. In addition, these guidelines are for all campus orders no matter how or why they are being created or used. Remember to use a licensee, which is a UC requirement.
