Typography — used thoughtfully — is another powerful brand tool to add visual meaning to what is communicated. UC Berkeley’s typography is clear and clean, and flexible enough to apply in a wide range of applications.
Brand fonts
With the academic and athletic identities in mind, we identified two font families (sans serif and serif) with expansive weights that can be applied across a range of communications. We chose fonts available from Google for ease of use across our platforms.
Inter is a sans serif, which can be used across academic and athletic contexts. Source Serif is a serif, for when a more elegant font is required.
Default fonts
In instances where Inter and Source Serif aren’t available, use Arial or Times as alternative fonts.
